Ammonium Bi Carbonate
PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES :
Ammonium bicarbonate is the bicarbonate salt of ammonia . It is a clear, white crystalline solid with a faint smell of ammonia. It is solunble in water and insoluble in alcohol and acetone .Between 36 to 60 degree centigrade it decomposes into ammonia , water vapour and carbon di oxide . The aqueous solution of ammonium bicarbonate is slightly basic.

USES : Basically, ammonium bicarbonate is used widely in the plastic,leather,textile and rubber industry.It is used in chemical manufacturing, mainly in the production of ammonium salts. It also acts as a sourse of ammonia in many products . In the food industry, it is mainly used in baked foods. It acts as a leaving agent during baking process and also as a substitute of yeast in the same.It also serves as compouds for cleaners and polishes..It too applies itself as a basic fertilizer and as an ingredient in fire extinguishers.Its improved property also makes it, to be involved in dyes and pigment , in the manufacture of ceramics, wood working and in cooling baths .It helps in accelarating decomposition in compost heaps .Biologically , it works as a pesticide active ingredient .
